FERRARI ROMA DESIGN
The Ferrari Roma’s design features a clean and absolute symbiosis between its harmonious proportions and pure, elegant volumes. The new 2+2 coupé is a modern take on classic design cues popular in the 60’s.
The Ferrari Roma’s design took inspiration from the concept of sport elegance celebrated in the most legendary grand touring Ferraris of the 1960s. The Ferrari Roma embodies a modern design that is reflective of the past. This pure styling coupled with Ferrari’s signature power and sportiness shows the absolute symbiosis and drives Ferrari into the next generation. The car showcases a minimalist elegance adopted from the iconic Monza SPs.
The sober, spare front of the car looks sculpted from a single block of metal, creating an overhanging shark nose effect. The wide front bonnet and sinuous wings perfectly flow into one another. The two linear full LED headlights, that give the front of the car its distinctive character, are traversed by a horizontal light strip that brings a sense of tension to the car. The rear of the car is characterized by the modernity of the tail which were made possible by technological developments. The twin taillights of the Ferrari Roma look like gems.
The Ferrari Roma represents the pinnacle of performance in this category, thanks to its turbocharged V8 from the family of engines that has won the overall International Engine of the Year award four years running. In this version, the engine reaches 612 hp at 7500 rpm and is coupled with the new 8-speed DCT gearbox that was introduced on the SF90 Stradale.
Like all other Ferraris, the Ferrari Roma delivers almost instantaneous throttle response thanks to its flat-plane rank shaft, compact turbines, twin-scroll technology, and to the single-piece cast exhaust. The zero turbo lag will optimize driving pleasure and never compromise it. The Ferrari Roma boasts Vehicle Boost Management which helps keep fuel consumption and emissions down while adopting a steeper torque curve for a feeling of smooth, consistent pick-up.
By tradition, every single Ferrari engine has its own particular soundtrack that makes it unique. The Ferrari Roma is no exception to the rule. The new exhaust line improves engine sound quality and exhaust backpressure. The engine offers a chart-topping sound that anyone will want to hear.
The crafting of the interior took its lead from the complete redesign of the Human Machine Interface (HMI). This resulted in a major leap forward, starting with the new steering wheel designed using the “Eyes on the road, hands on the wheel” philosophy with all the car’s main commands actioned by haptic controls, ensuring the driver doesn’t have to move their hands from the wheel. The digital instrument cluster is protected by an elegant anti-glare binnacle, which extends out naturally from the dash.
The exceptionally intuitive and user-friendly display with an 8.4” vertical screen, set between the cockpits, incorporates the other infotainment and climate control functions. The passenger’s experience continues with an 8.8” dedicated color full HD and full touch screen, which displays the car’s performance and interacts with its on-board system. For instance, it is possible to select music, view satnav information, and manage air conditioning functions. So essentially, the passenger becomes a co-driver.
