Yellow was Ferrari’s choice. Red was assigned to Italy by motorsport convention, but when Enzo Ferrari founded Scuderia Ferrari in 1929 he set the Prancing Horse against the yellow of Modena, the city he was born in, and the shield has carried it ever since. The paint followed the badge, and Giallo Modena has been the constant.
