Ferraris parading on Venice's Grand Canal

Venice, 23 September - Venice is a spectacular city. Today there was even more to see with a parade along the Grand Canal of around 30 of the most beautiful and famous classic Ferraris.

Exactly, a parade of Ferraris, but with their engines turned off, transported by three special boats from the Lido arriving at the San Marco Square and at the Rialto bridge, admired by tourists and Venetians alike.

The parade was just one stage of a special event dedicated to Ferrari by Italia Classica. The cars taking part arrived from all over the world and included some of the rarest models: the 166 Touring, winner of the Mille Miglia in 1950, the 375 MM, the car F1 World Champion Phil Hill used in his first race for Ferrari, some breathtaking Californias and Daytona Spiders from the 60s and the 250 Zagato and Europa, winners of some of the most prestigious international Concours d'elegance.

The participants, who left Maranello yesterday and will get back there on Sunday to drive on the hills around Modena the test drivers use for their outings, were received at the Casino in Venice for a gala dinner. This morning the cars were presented at the legendary Circuito del Lido, followed by a Concours d'Elegance at the Golf of the Lido. After the parade on the canals the cars will return to Modena via the windy roads of the Euganei hills, passing the Palladio villas, concluding this exclusive event with dinner at Modena's Military Academy.
